LED neon gives the classic neon look using LED light inside a flexible body. Being light and easy to mount, it is the most popular choice for interiors.

An LED neon sign is made by bending a flexible body with an LED light source inside it along the lines of a design, then fixing it onto an acrylic backboard. From the front it gives the glowing line of classic neon, but it uses a flexible material instead of a glass tube. In most projects it runs from a low-voltage adapter and goes up easily on a wall, in a window or on a desk.
LED neon is at its strongest in interiors viewed from close or medium range. Script lettering, icons and illustrations that need free-flowing shapes are easy to draw with it. Typical uses we see:
The three products serve different needs. The table shows general tendencies; the real decision depends on your design and your space.
| Topic | LED neon | Glass neon | Channel letters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | Crisp, even line | Warm, soft, with a halo | Even light that brings out the letter silhouette |
| Form | Flexible for curves, script and icons | Tied to the glass tube path | Limited to the letter silhouette |
| Handling and setup | Generally light and practical | Needs care because it is glass | Usually fixed to a facade |
| Typical place | Interiors, windows, events | Bars, restaurants, classic looks | Facades, signs read from a distance |
We go deeper into look and care in LED neon vs glass neon, and into storefront signage in LED neon vs channel letters vs lightbox.
If the sign is meant for outdoors, say so in your design. Materials and electrical parts are chosen for the conditions, and suitability is assessed for each project.
If you are torn between options, try the same text in two fonts or colors and send both. Seeing them side by side usually settles it.
LED neon is always fixed onto an acrylic backboard. If you choose a cut-to-shape or cut-per-letter backboard, the acrylic follows the outline of the text, so on the wall you mostly see the glowing lettering itself.
Yes. Different parts of the lettering or artwork can be made in different colors. The design tool previews one color per design, so just add a note saying which part should be which color when you send it. The number of colors is one of the factors that affects the price.
A single-color sign glows steadily in the color you pick, which is usually the better option if you want a predictable result close to your brand color. With RGB you change the color with a remote, which suits venues and events that like to change the mood.
